QR Codes as RSVP Cards {Ideas and Inspiration}

Do you want to plan a more green and environmentally friendly wedding? Or are you looking for a way to pinch pennies and save money? Well we've got the thing for you! Instead of using post cards or envelopes and notes for your RSVP cards why not use a QR code? Just about everyone nowadays, including your grandmother, has a smartphone and by scanning the QR code your guests will be able to go to a form and fill out a simple yes or no questionere. Here's how!

1. Deciding where you want to send your guests to
You can send your guests to just about any website. If you already have a wedding website with an RSVP feature why not choose that page to send them to? Do you have a blog for your wedding with an RSVP page? Go there! Or create a simple RSVP survey on sites like Survey Monkey or Zoomerang. There's even a website dedicated to collecting your RSVPs for you and will even give you a QR code to use here.

2. Creating the QR code
The QR code can direct people to your wedding website website, blog or a survey page. To create your QR code you just use a QR code generator, like this one, and save the QR code picture to your desktop. You can also track the amount of "hits" you get from your QR code by following this tutorial.

3. Printing your invitations
When deciding on a design for your invitations you can easily incorporate your QR code in them. Simply place them on the back of the invitation if you are using a simple square invite. Or include them on the back of your map card with a cute note saying to turn it around. Just make sure to tell your invitation designer that you want to use a QR code and they can help you find the perfect spot for it.

Other ways of incorporating a QR code into your wedding:

Add it to your save the dates and have it link to your wedding website
Include it in baby shower invites as a link to your registry or website
Make sure your vendors know exactly when and where to be somewhere by adding it to your day-of timeline and create a spreadsheet for each vendor.
Place it in your wedding programs with a link to the songs or list of attendants
Put it on the back of your thank you cards with a link to your wedding photos

Scratch-Off Save-the-Dates {DIY Tutorial}

Brides are always looking for a fun and unique way to set their stationery apart from others out there. Well we just ran into a great idea for a DIY save-the-date card over at Martha Stewart Weddings. It's not only cute but interactive as well! Guests are sure to clear their calendar for your special day with this original card.

Tools and Supplies

Ink-jet and laser printer
8 1/2-by-11-inch card stock in white or cream (you will print 2 cards per sheet)
Craft knife and metal ruler
Metallic acrylic paint (we used Golden Artist Colors acrylic paint in iridescent silver, $4.75, utrechtart.com)
Liquid dish soap
1/4-inch-wide watercolor brush
A7 envelopes (5 1/4 by 7 1/4 inches)
Pennies

Basic How-To

Download Martha's PDF file, and open it using Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you are using a Mac, use Reader instead of Apple's Preview application).
Replace the placeholder text with your own (you only need to do this in one box; the form will automatically fill in the rest), and print onto card stock.
Use the craft knife and metal ruler to cut between the crop marks (do not cut all the way to the edges of the paper; this will leave the crop marks intact around all the edges to guide subsequent cuts).
Combine one part dish soap with two parts metallic acrylic paint. Paint neatly over the number in the center of the hearts with a thin layer. Let it dry thoroughly, about 1 hour, and then add a second layer. Let second coat dry thoroughly (about 1 more hour) before putting the cards in the envelopes.
Mail the card with a "lucky" penny for scratching (you will need extra postage for this).

Remember to weigh your save-the-dates just as you would your invitations to insure that each and every one arrives at its destination.

What Do I Include in my Invitation? {Ideas and Information}

Typically, an invitation is made up of the mailing envelope, invite, RSVP card, and reply envelope (which should include a prepaid stamp). Save-the-dates, reception cards (used when the party is in a different spot than the ceremony), and inner envelopes are common add-ons.

Recently, people have also started to include a map or page of activities for out-of-towners. And some use post cards instead of RSVP cards with reply envelopes.

Besides the invitations and save-the dates, we make items such as ceremony programs, menu cards, favor/dessert tags and custom signage. Basically any paper good element you would like at your reception can be created by Cherish Paperie.

No matter what you choose, just remember to be clear on what you would like to include when ordering your invitations and reception stationery. Some brides order their invitations and when they get the complete set they end up without the inner envelope or other piece of the stationery that they wanted to include. Save the Date {Custom Wedding Stationery}

The date is set and you're ready to let friends and family know what date to save. Why not do it with a Save the Date? If you're having a destination wedding, have a wedding date on a three-day holiday weekend or have a lot of out of town guests you plan on inviting you may want to send out save the dates to your guests.

There are many options on how to send out your save the dates. You can go simple with a post card or an email, or you can go with a more unique way. I sent out save the date stickers and placed them like a business card on my printed save the date card. That way guests could either put the save the date on the fridge or use the sticker on their calendar.

I love the look of this "photo booth" save the date. It seems so personable and memorable. And using your own picture whether its from an engagement photo shoot or taken by a friend (or photo booth) takes a save the date from formal to more casual. And the simplicity of the design is just perfect!

But there's nothing wrong with formal! Or matching your save the dates with all of the other stationery for your wedding. Why not use a save the date that compliments the invitations you are choosing? And while you're at it you can design the reception stationery for your special day all at the same time. This can save you time and energy later on in the planning process. One less thing to check off your list.

This feathered card is simple and elegant. It includes all of the important information and clearly highlights what date your event will take place on and the location of the event.

And since a save the date is getting the word out on what date your wedding will take place, a save the date that highlights that date as part of the design might be a great choice for you.

These next two save the dates feature calendars right on the front of the card. You can get specific and list the day of the week, month, date, year and time or you can just include a picture of a calendar and circle your date.

Tips for Save the Dates:

Include the date of your wedding, your names and the location or city that the wedding will take place
Send out your save the dates 6-12 months in advance
You don't need to send a save the date to every guest. If only a handful of your guests will need to make travel arrangements to make it to your wedding you can just order enough to send to them.
And remember the most important thing about a save the date - to only send them to people you know you will be inviting. Do not send a save the date to those who aren't on your wedding guest list; if you aren't sure than don't send it.
And remember to have fun! Save the dates are your chance to get creative and have fun. There's no proper etiquette on wording, etc.
