Our beautiful new stationery company website is LIVE!

Welcome to the new cherishpaperie.com!

As a wedding stationery design studio, we love to design pretty paper things. But we found that what we also needed was a beautiful wedding company website that was up-to-date with current trends and technologies. If you follow us on Twitter you've probably seen that we've been getting ready to launch the new and improved CherishPaperie.com for quite some time. Well, we're excited to announce that our hard work has paid off and the big day is finally here! Here are some of the new features we're excited about:

What started as a logo redesign in the summer of 2012 turned into a full-scale company rebrand. We're immensely proud of how far we've come and we hope you get a chance to take a look around, browse our galleries, and enjoy the ease of navigating our new site! Certain parts of our website may still be under construction and we are still adding photos to the galleries. Please let us know if you saw a product in our old gallery, but can't find the item in our new galleries yet, and we will be sure to add it as quickly as possible for you! And of course, if you catch any bugs or have any suggestions, we'd love for you to let us know!

A Royal Baby Announcement

With all the buzz surrounding Britain's newest little prince, we couldn't resist joining in. We asked ourselves what we would design if the Duchess asked us to create a royal baby announcement for her new little prince (we can dream big too, right?)

A Royal Baby Announcement

We chose to go with a very elegant announcement, using high-end papers and techniques but keeping the design simple and clean. We drew inspiration from the royal family's age-old tradition of placing a golden-framed announcement on a wooden easel within the palace gates to announce the birth to the public. The official announcement is very clean and simple, surrounded by the ornate golden frame, so we worked those elements into our design! The result was a lovely, yet simple announcement printed on cottony white paper with a royal blue ribbon accent.

The bracket-style die cut gives it an ornate flair, and the ridged antique gold envelope liner, seal, and and backing make this announcement fit for a prince!

Finally, we used an off-white envelope with a slight shimmer and a ridged pattern, for one last touch of elegance.

DIY Mad Libs Calling Cards {Free Printables}

Imagine this scenario: you're out and about when you find yourself in need of sharing your number with someone you've just met. Maybe it's the woman who has a son in your child's kindergarten class, wanting to get your kids together for a play date. Maybe it's a potential employer who has asked if he can contact you for an interview. Or maybe it's the guy from the coffee shop who you're pretty sure could be your soul mate. If you are like me, you'll probably find yourself digging around for a scrap of paper to scribble down your number. But wouldn't it be better to have something on hand so that no matter the occasion or the reason for networking, you're prepared? That's where our DIY Mad Libs Calling Cards come in.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Printed template pages found here
Scissors OR X-Acto blade/ metal cork-backed ruler / & cutting mat
A binding clip, rubber band, ribbon, or business card holder

STEP ONE // PRINTING

Download this pdf and open it up in Adobe Reader (if you don't have it, you can download it here.) Once open, print the document on a heavyweight card stock of your choice. If you are unfamiliar with how to print a two-sided document, Adobe has created a useful guide for double-sided printing. Even if your printer only supports one-sided printing, you can still manually print two sides by printing and then reloading the paper upside down. Print as many sheets as you want. One sheet will make nine cards.

STEP TWO // CUTTING

Using either scissors or an X-Acto knife or other craft knife, cut along all the dotted lines that are on the back side of the calling cards. An X-Acto knife will give a more precise cut, however, if you decide to use an X-Acto please be sure to follow our safety tips below. X-Acto Safety Tips:

Always cut on a self healing cutting mat to protect your work surface. These can be purchased at craft stores like Joann's or Michaels, or any other art supply store.
Always use a metal ruler with a cork or foam backing. The ruler helps you achieve a straight cut and the cork backing prevents the ruler from slipping. Line up the ruler along the dotted line, and follow the edge of the ruler with your blade. Make sure your fingertips are not hanging over the edge of the ruler!
Make sure the X-Acto blade is fresh and sharp. Dull blades can slip or "jump" while cutting, which could cause injury. Plus, sharp blades give a cleaner cut!
Do not force the blade to cut through the paper entirely on the first pass. Some thicker card stocks may require you to cut two or three times along the same line.

STEP THREE // BINDING

Once all the cards are cut, find a cute way to bind them all together. You can use a binder clip, a rubber band, tie a ribbon around them, or put them in a business card case. Now they're ready to take on the go, so no matter where you are or who you meet, you'll never miss another opportunity to say "hello".

STEP FOUR // NETWORK

When using the cards simply fill out your name, number or email, and job title or a description of yourself or where you met the other person. You can change it up depending on who you're swapping contact information with, which is a kind of flexibility that a standard business card doesn't offer. You can use the cards to obtain someone else's information as well. Oh, and if it turns out that the guy from the coffee shop actually IS your soulmate, let us know when you're ready to have your wedding stationery done. We'll be waiting for you! ;)

Wedding Place Cards with Dinner Selection – What to Do?

The biggest concern of your wedding shouldn't be chicken or beef. But when it comes to pleasing guests and assuring that someone with a specific diet is taken care of, the wedding place cards meal selection indicator should be a factor in planning your wedding stationery. There are a few things to consider when you decide how to label your place cards with the meal selection your guests have made. And that first starts with your RSVP cards. When asking your guests to select a choice for their meal remember these great tips:

Make sure there's enough room for each guest RSVPing to indicate what they want or write it out for them
Ask each guest to initial their choice so you can note it on their placecard
Leave a little space for guests to list any dietary restrictions (just in case your favorite dish contains peanuts, etc)

Designing Your Wedding Place Cards with Dinner Selection In Mind

Once you've sent out your invites and start receiving RSVPs it's great to note the meal selection of your guests on your master RSVP list so you don't accidentally put one person down for the wrong meal. As you design your place cards for your reception you should think about two things:

What you'll use to symbolize your guest's dinner choice - see below for our ideas!
Where the choice will be placed - the top right corner is the most visible if using an icon or writing for a dinner selection

There are a number of ways to indicate a meal choice.

1. Color Coded

You can simply designate a color coded chart so that the servers at your wedding know that blue is chicken and green is vegetarian. These color selections can not only match your wedding colors but will flow seamlessly from your other reception stationery.

2. Icons

Perhaps one of the cuter ways to indicate your guests meal choice selection is to use an icon on your place cards. By simply adding a cow, pig, fish, etc to the top right section of your card the servers will easily see what your guest has requested for their meal.

3. Write it Out

If you included the exact meal option you're offering on your RSVP card it might be best to write out your selection. For example, if you are having filet mignon and rosemary chicken each place card will simply state "filet mignon" or "rosemary chicken" on the card. There's no misinterpreting that!

Creative Design Intern Needed!

We are looking for a friendly and easy-going intern who is able to learn quickly, work independently; is detail oriented and is also very interested in the wedding industry, photography, social media & marketing. This is a perfect job for a student who seeks an internship with a smaller amount of hours during the school year, and more work in the summer. This is a 3-6 month unpaid internship with lots of opportunity to gain a wealth of experience and connections, and may lead to a hired position. Hours are flexible, approx. 12 hours per week for school credit if necessary.

You will be working on various projects ranging from company collateral to invitations & branding. We’re looking for a creative person, preferably a student, who has a keen eye for style and design, and who loves crafty projects, pretty flowers, weddings, photography and the like. In this position, interns will be exposed to a variety of tasks and will gain experience in a broad range of graphic art skills, including typography, layout, photography, web design principles and branding awareness.

DUTIES
(including but not limited to)

Work with inspiration boards to accomplish new concepts for projects, clients & promotions
Create original designs in an efficient & timely manner
Create and revise proofs to customer specifications, including typesetting & text proofing
Pay close attention to details to proof spelling, grammar & keeping consistent in product colors, names & dimensions
Prepping files to print. Understanding of bleed, crop marks, color management & sending digital orders to press.
Assist in researching for items, props, venues, and/or models for photo shoots
Attend photo shoots (on location) and assisting with in-house photo shoots, with styling, setting up and breakdown.
Assist with projects such as flyers, press releases and other marketing collateral.
Prepare images and product samples for customer and media requests.
Assist with ribbon and paper inventory.
Assist with order assembly & shipping, counting, quality control and packaging for regular and wedding orders.
General assistance in studio

SKILLS
Applicants should possess some or all of the following:

Proficiency in Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5 & Photoshop CS5 in a PC environment (sorry, no MAC!)
A familiarity with Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and other social mediums
Web knowledge, including an understanding of Dreamweaver, Blogger or Wordpress a plus!
A design aesthetic which complements our work
Well-organized - Great organization skills, willing to work with company file management
Willing to learn - Self-Starter, takes the lead but is a great listener
Good communication skills (both written + verbal)
Must be reliable, efficient, detail-oriented, thorough, work well under deadlines.

Preference will be given to students and candidates located in Los Angeles and Orange County but all will be considered. Flexible availability.
