We recently teamed up with Michal Caplan of BridalBalance.com to design these beautiful bookmarks for her to give out to clients. They remind brides that no matter what stresses and anxieties may come during their wedding season, that they have the right to be a happy bride! We love the idea, and we love how the bookmarks turned out. We loved it so much, in fact, that we asked Michal to share some advice with our readers, too! CP: Can you tell our readers a little bit about BridalBalance and what inspired you to create this service? M: Bridal Balance is blog based and coaching advice for brides to help them reduce stress, build confidence and enjoy their engagement. After planning my own wedding and talking with many brides, I realized how overwhelming wedding planning can be. I felt that there was a gap in services to help brides get the support they need and take better care of themselves, so with my counseling and social work background, I launched Bridal Balance. CP: What, in your opinion, seems to be the biggest stressor on brides during their wedding planning season? M: From finances and communication to family drama and social anxiety, each bride faces different stressors that affect her. Having the bride list her top ones makes it easier to start working on them, so they don't interfere with her wedding day bliss. What is the first piece of advice you'd share to make a happier, more confident bride? M: Before you dive head first into planning your wedding, take some time to enjoy your engagement! This is such an exciting and special time in your life. You and your fiance deserve to be happy in the moment. That happiness will build the confidence and momentum you need to begin the planning process. What inspired you to write the Bridal Bill of Rights and how do you hope it will impact others? M: The bride-to-be is busy with so many things, between wedding planning and life in general. I wrote the Bridal Bill of Rights as a reminder that she has the right to make decisions and take actions that benefit her and her future husband. I hope this little keepsake will help brides take better care of themselves and boost their confidence. Any encouraging comments for the grooms out there? ;) M: The Bridal Bill of Rights is written for brides, since they are usually the ones doing the planning, but grooms should be included in it too. Once the planning begins, grooms may start to feel that it takes over their relationship. So guys definitely, discuss what you're feeling and make sure to continue planning some date nights to get away from it all. Also be open and up front about what you want to participate in when it comes to the wedding preparations. This way you're both on the same page and can enjoy your planning responsibilities. Most importantly, remember that she said, "Yes!" There may be days that your bride is more stressed out or emotional than you're used too; but she loves you and is planning this wedding because she knows that in the end, she gets to spend the rest of her life with you!

We had a wonderful time designing the stationery for this adorable Supergirl Birthday Party, featured this week on the Hostess With The Mostess blog! Sydnie is lucky to have such a fun and creative mom (who also happens to be a Super-Powered event planner, Sophia of Petite Productions!) Here's what Sophis had to say about us on Hostess with the Mostess: Stationery: The inspiration came from the original superhero himself, but for stickers, seals, tags, labels, signs… Cherish Paperie creatively upgraded the look of all our paper goods to coordinate with Sydnie’s party theme. Our invitation was designed to have a comic strip quality to it and the thank you cards were a collage of photobooth images featuring each of our guests, so they could laugh and remember being silly and having fun with us!

DIY Halloween Crafts to Trick and Treat your friends {Free Printables}

It's the week before Halloween, and what better way to celebrate than with DIY Halloween crafts and sharing tricks and treats with your neighbors and friends? This week's DIY Freebie Printable will help you create your very own BOO Bags to spread the spooky cheer around the office or neighborhood this Halloween. If you've never heard of the Boo Bag tradition, it's a fun and slightly mischievous way to share the spirit of Halloween with others. No one knows exactly when this simple game began, but all you have to do is make a few goodie-bags for neighbors or coworkers, add an "I've Been Booed" sign and instruction sheet to the bag, and sneakily deliver the bag to your friends' desks or doorsteps! Once they've been "BOOED", they can pass on the fun by putting up their "I've Been Booed" sign and making their own goodie bag for their friends! Kids will love seeing "I've Been Booed" signs pop up around the neighborhood, and who doesn't love finding a bag of treats?

DIY Halloween Crafts: BOO Bags

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Printed label templates, found here: BOO Bag Labels

Printed BOO sign and instructions templates, found here: 1. To BOO your neighbors // 2. To BOO your coworkers
Paper lunch bags
Goodies for the Boo Bag (candies, giftcards, tissues, pencils, erasers, get creative!)
Stapler OR hole-punch and ribbon
Scissors OR X-Acto blade, metal cork-backed ruler & cutting mat

STEP ONE // PRINTING YOUR BOO BAG LABELS AND BOO SIGNS

Download the two templates listed above (depending on whether you'd like to BOO your neighbors or coworkers, choose either #1 or #2 for the sign.) and open it up in Adobe Reader. If you don't have Reader, you can download it for free here. Once open, print the document on a heavyweight card stock of your choice. {TIP: Try printing on orange card stock to help set a spooky mood!} Everything can be printed one-sided, but print the sign and instructions double-sided if you'd like to save paper! If you are unfamiliar with how to print a two-sided document, Adobe has created a useful guide for double-sided printing. Even if your printer only supports one-sided printing, you can still manually print two sides by printing and then reloading the paper upside down. STEP TWO // CUTTING Using either scissors or an X-Acto knife or other craft knife, cut along all the dotted lines on the BOO Bag Labels. An X-Acto knife will give a more precise cut, however, if you decide to use an X-Acto please be sure to follow our safety tips below. X-Acto Safety Tips:

Always cut on a self healing cutting mat to protect your work surface. These can be purchased at craft stores like Joann's or Michaels, or any other art supply store.
Always use a metal ruler with a cork or foam backing. The ruler helps you achieve a straight cut and the cork backing prevents the ruler from slipping. Line up the ruler along the dotted line, and follow the edge of the ruler with your blade. Make sure your fingertips are not hanging over the edge of the ruler!
Make sure the X-Acto blade is fresh and sharp. Dull blades can slip or "jump" while cutting, which could cause injury. Plus, sharp blades give a cleaner cut!
Do not force the blade to cut through the paper entirely on the first pass. Some thicker card stocks may require you to cut two or three times along the same line.

STEP THREE // ASSEMBLE BAGS

Fill your BOO Bags with goodies and treats. Remember to fold up the BOO Sign and Instructions and slip them in the bag as well! You can even include extra instructions and signs for your friends to make their own bags. Finally, fold the top of the bag down either staple or use a hole punch and ribbon to secure the BOO label to the front of your bag! (Labels can also be glued onto bags, feel free to get creative!)

3 Reasons Why Save The Dates Really Matter

Wednesday is my favorite day of the week. Over on Twitter, Wednesday is known as #WeddingWednesday, and all over the world the Twittersphere is alive with brides and vendors chatting about weddings, inspiration, and planning! During this week's #BridalBabble, an hour-long weekly wedding chat hosted by Lisa of "A Bride On A Budget", we spotted this bride's interesting question: https://twitter.com/ItsRREE/status/388040101961670656 And it got us thinking; Do save the dates really matter? They announce the date of the wedding. Doesn't an invitation do the same thing? Our answer is yes, they DO matter. And we're not just saying that because we design Save The Dates.

3 reasons why save the dates matter:

1. They're Official

Many of your family members and potential guests will find out about your engagement through word of mouth or your social media (who doesn't love seeing that updated relationship status on Facebook?). But not all of your guests will find out you're engaged until they receive direct contact from you. A Save the Date is a great way to reach out and share the great news, officially!

2. They're Courteous

A wedding is a big day for you, but don't forget: it's a big day for your guests, too! Often, attending a wedding involves a lot of planning. Guests may need to make travel arrangements, take time off of work, secure babysitters, pet-sitters; and they may have even more needs to take care of that you don't even know about! Helping your guests out by sending a Save The Date makes a stress-free wedding experience for everyone involved. Save the Dates are different than invitations in that they can be sent out much, much sooner. The general rule of thumb is to send out wedding invitations two months before the wedding, but for many guests, this may not be enough time to plan! Sending your Save the Dates out at least 6 months prior to your wedding date ensures guests are ready to RSVP when the invites come in.

3. They're Memorable

Often it's the Save the Date that guests keep pinned up, magnetized to fridges, and displayed long after the wedding day. Even at this very moment, I have a friend's save the date posted on my desk. It makes me smile whenever I look at it, because it reminds me of their sweet wedding and how happy they are. It's common for save the dates to include engagement photos, and your guests will love seeing your happy faces and remembering your special day for years to come. Plus, Save the Dates are just really, really cute!
